TSECHHEN SHEDRUB LING MON GON LOBDRA MONASTIC SCHOOL IN LO-MANTHANG
The school, founded in 1994, belongs to the monastery Choede Gömpa. At present, 80 eight-year-old boys as well as older ones attend the convent school. In addition to the normal curriculum, the boys receive the centuries-old, traditional training as Buddhist monks.
The aim of the monastery school is to give the young monks a training oriented towards both, tradition and modernity.
Since 2004 it has been possible to complete secondary religious studies at the college of the monastery (Shedra). This will allow students to stay in Mustang instead of going to India as they used to. The whereabouts of young people and their pastoral work in the villages is very important to the population!
