The elementary school was founded in 2003 and has been run as a semi-private school, because the government currently provides three teachers. Due to the climatic conditions, the school operations last from April to November.
The catchment area of the school covers more than 100 households. The school in Namdo is the only access to education for the children and enjoys a high status in the village and in the surrounding area, consequently the number of students is increasing annually. Currently, more than 100 children attend school and are taught according to the Nepalese curriculum. The curriculum is supplemented with lessons in Tibetan, so that the relation to the mother tongue and the native Tibetan Buddhist culture is not lost. The school consists of eight classes: nursery school, kindergarten, Grades 1-5 as well as 6th Grade (Lower Secondary Class).
The high acceptance of the school in the population could be achieved thanks to continuously run operations as well as the dedicated school management and the teachers. The school lessons (including learning material and uniform) are free of charge for the children and will be borne by your donation.
